BBC reporter Norman Smith made an agonising error during a live broadcast the news that Ukip leader Nigel Farage is facing a leadership coup.
Following Nigel Farage’s post-election resignation - and ‘unresignation’ much to the amusement of social media users – political reporter Norman Smith let slip the c-word when discussing Ukip's leadership battle which could see MP Douglas Carswell take over
Quoting Ukip campaign director Patrick O’Flynn who said there was a danger that under Farage Ukip could become “an absolutist monarchy personality cult", Smith found himself tongue-twisted on the word cult.
Smith corrected himself, seemingly taken aback by the slip up, continuing the report as if nothing had happened.
And the award for 'Freudian Slip of the Year' goes to BBC's Norman Smith talking about @nigel_faragehttps://t.co/LFKM54BiiC
