Need to Know – The latest US media & marketing news: Kanye West earns art doctorate, Domino's unveils ‘tweet to order’ & Facebook's 'Instant News' is fresh off the press

Morning all, here’s a glimpse at all the media and marketing news you should know today.

1. Domino’s has announced a new ‘tweet to order’ feature which will enable hungry social media users to place orders on Twitter. Business Insider reports that frequent customers need only tweet a pizza emoji to the company – it will launch later this month in the US.

2. Over half of Pinterest users have agreed that the site helps influence their purchase decisions. The Wall Street Journal reports that 52 per cent of users agree that the social network helps them find items they want to buy – another 30 per cent said they have bought something through the platform.

3. Twitter has unshackled Periscope from its service meaning that users no longer need a Twitter account to sign in. The Next Web reports that the features were implemented in a wider update which allows for more filiming tools.

4. Facebook has today rolled out its ‘instant articles’ which load on the app 10 times faster that they would have previously, according to the Verge. The New York Times and Buzzfeed are among some of the publishers aboard for the scheme which will hasten the mobile experience.

5. Kanye West has received an honorary doctorate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where the artist took the time to mock George Bush’s paintings, according to ABC News. West said Bush “has some very cool self-portraits...”. The award, he said, was “A humanization, a reality of being recognized..."

6. Speaking of ex-presidents, Bill Clinton opened up Univision's Upfront Presentation with a speech which featured ‘zingers’ like "I'm well aware I'm just the warm-up act for Ricky Martin". AdAge reports Clinton held a 15-minute Q&A with 1,850 agency and client execs which finished with a standing ovation.

7. Donald Trump has used the Philadelphia Amtrak accident to forward his campaign against president Barack Obama. Mashable reports that he said “the only one to fix the infrastructure of our country is me - roads, airports, bridges. I know how to build, pols only know how to talk, remember, politicians are all talk and NO action. Our country is a laughing stock that is going to hell. The lobbyists and donors control all!”

8. A proposed Illinois data breach bill could create “unnecessary compliance burdens” says the Association of National Advertisers and other trade groups in a letter to state lawmakers. Mediapost reports that the bill would require companies to notify consumers about data breaches that exposed not only financial information, but also consumers' geolocation data.
