Thetrainline.com’s media account is up for grabs, putting incumbent Vizeum on alert.

The Drum understands the account is worth circa £4m.

Vizeum beat Manning Gottlieb OMD and PHD to the account in 2008 as part of the online ticket retailer’s wider strategy to reposition the brand.

Thetrainline.com has since experienced rapid growth, and now claims to be the UK’s fifth largest e-commerce brand with over 20 million visits a month.

Confirming the review, a spokesperson told The Drum: “Our commitment to innovation and saving people money have been at the heart of this and Vizeum have been an integral partner in helping us build a strong and commercially successful brand via a series of campaigns that have driven both brand metrics and sales growth.

“As we move into an exciting new era for the brand, we are looking to review our creative work and with that our media agency partner. I would like to thank the team at Vizeum for their commitment and delivery of stand-out campaigns over the past seven years.”

Thetrainline.com began a review of the creative account last month, with incumbent DLKW Lowe declining to repitch. The agency was behind the 'Brilliant for train stuff. Rubbish for anything else' positioning to launch a new app, creating the TV ad voiced by The Inbetweener's Simon Bird.

The agency shakeup comes after private equity firm KKR bought thetrainline.com from Exponent earlier this year amid plans for an initial public offering (IPO) worth £500m.

AAR is handling the review.
