May 11, 2015 | 3 min read

The advent of digital has meant the idea not the marketing channels now define the strongest campaigns. To celebrate the best and brightest ideas, the Drum is launching its most eclectic awards yet that will champion everything about marketing.

The old days of “we’ll just shove ads down people throats” are long gone and yet creativity often loses out in an industry where effectiveness and speed are the norm for cost-focused marketers.

But it doesn’t have to be. And to prove it The Drum is calling out all creatives - from publishers to production companies, technology makers to PR agencies – to contest its Dream Awards.

Launching today (11 May), the awards give the industry’s brightest and best creative pioneers a platform whether it’s an innovative PR campaign or a disruptive use of iBeacons. The most effective marketing ditches the silo mentality and the awards reflect this mindset, showcasing the truly best examples of a convergence of channels around an iconic idea.

Gordon Young, founder of The Drum, said: “This is an event where the big idea is the idea. To us it is not about the media. It's about the message. It is a product of an increasingly converged market place where all sectors of the community from digital media to traditional advertising will be able to compete for the top awards.”

For those who want to know more, an advertising campaign has been developed by Lost Boys, inviting those with big ideas to enter the awards. Titled “Dreamers Wanted”, the promotion spans social media, video and print in The Drum with creative hailing the industry’s dreamers and paying tribute to their imagination and creativity.

The Dream Awards will be judged by leading industry figures including Rosie Arnold, Deputy Executive Creative Director at BBH London, Guy Duncan, Global Creative Director at Coca-Cola and Trevor Beattie, Founder of Beattie McGuinness Bungay. The awards boast a broad range of vertical sector and medium-based categories, covering everything from TV and outdoor to experiential and creative technology.
