Vice Media has appointed its first chief revenue officer, Richard Beckman, the former president of Conde Naste Media Group.

Beckman, who spent over two decades at Conde Naste, has also served as chief executive of Fairchild Fashion Media, departing in 2010 after a year, followed by Three Lions Entertainment.

He will oversee advertising sales a Vice Media where he will report to co-president Andrew Creighton.

The news of his hiring was first reported by the Hollywood Reporter who quoted Beckman as saying: “Vice is the fastest-growing company in the media landscape. Their connection to great passion points across a wide array of categories and their unique relationship with millions of constituents as a rainmaker, it’s like waving the dinner bell for a piranha.”

He concluded by stating: “To be given the opportunity to lead the charge with this rich array of assets with the vitality that they have is a fantastic opportunity.”

Vice Media was one of the media companies announced as finalists for The Drum’s Online Media Awards this week.
