He arrives at what Salix & Co’s managing director Sarah Wrixon labels an “important juncture in its development” and will play a key role in mapping out its future growth trajectory. Elliott's mandate is to create a more integrated strategy between the agency’s public relations, public affairs and social marketing.

Wrixton added: “We are delighted Russell is joining us. He is a talented communications professional with a forensic understanding of health policy and politics. He also brings entrepreneurial flair and excellent connections across the sector. Salix is at an important juncture in its development and Russell is exactly the right person to help us drive, and share in, our next phase of growth."

Elliott led the communications function for independent NHS healthcare services provider Virgin Care, reporting directly to the chief executive, board and wider Virgin Group of companies. He oversaw the PR and corporate affairs plans for the organisation at a time when the NHS underwent its largest structural revamp in over 60 years, during which the company restructure and grew by over 400 per cent.
