Jose Cuervo, along with McCann New York, launched a social campaign in celebration of this year’s Cinco de Mayo.

The totally digital effort, being called ‘Write your cinco,’ includes a video (above) featuring Luis Guzman and a ludicrous account of what the origin of the holiday may have been.

The idea behind the campaign is that while Cinco de Mayo is one of the mose enthusiastically celebrated unofficial US holidays, not many people know its origins.

Fans of the tequila brand were asked to submit videos explaining where they thought the holiday came from.

Winning entries are on display today in an East Los Angeles mural.
