Google is to give wavering voters a helpful hand to place their cross on the ballot box this Thursday with the introduction of candidate search functionality straight from its search page.

The tech firm promises to deliver unbiased results indicating who can be voted for on at the constituency level simply by asking ‘who can I vote for?’

By entering a postcode Google will automatically list each candidate on the ballot paper, allowing prospective voters to swot up on their prospective MPs courtesy of information supplied by volunteers at YourNextMP.com, a separate crowdsourced platform listing candidate’s websites, emails, social media profiles and election leaflets.

The portal also compiles recent news articles concerning each candidate, with some candidates even going so far as to upload their CVs for inspection.

Since its launch YourNextMP has generated over 3m page views and become a key resource for media and campaign organisations.
