HTC partners with Jourdan Dunn for body-art inspired handset design
HTC has collaborated with supermodel Jourdan Dunn in a body art-inspired campaign to promote its Ink M9 handset, as the company looks to highlight its design credentials.
The style-led limited edition campaign has seen the supermodel work with Singer Rihanna's tattoo artist Cally-Jo to design a henna-style hand inking which has been engraved onto the back of the limited edition run of HTC One Ink M9 handsets.
HTC’s chief executive (CEO) Cher Wang said: “Cleverly executed and unique body art is as much an expression of your style and personality as your outfit, haircut or your smartphone. No brand has yet tapped into the potential of body art and it seemed a natural fit for HTC’s commitment to promote brilliant design and individual expression.
"With Jourdan Dunn working alongside us, we will to continue to lead the industry in setting trends and making technology more human and individualistic.”
The campaign follows a difficult start to 2015 for the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer. Last month it lost its second design head in a year when Jonah Becker departed just months after Scott Croyle left the business.
Becker's departure came amid a management shake-up at HTC which recently named co-founder and and chairman Cher Wang as CEO.
