Reebok KOs Jon Jones sponsorship following hit-and-run arrest
Reebok has canned its sponsorship of Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones after his arrest for hit-and-run.
Jones, who allegedly fled the scene of an accident in Albuquerque on Sunday, previously said he was “incredibly proud to be a part” of Reebok’s UFC push, but has now been suspended by the body and dropped by the sports brand.
A spokesperson for Reebok told TMZ Sports: "In light of recent events, we have made the decision to terminate our contract with Jon Jones, effective immediately."
The move comes after the sports brand signed both Jones and Ronda Rousey as brand ambassadors in December.
Furthermore, UFC also stripped Jones of his light heavyweight title, the first instance of a title being stripped for disciplinary reasons in the body’s history.
