Instagram introduces emoji hashtags along with three new filters

Instagram has given users the capability to use emoji in their hashtags on the photo-sharing app.

In a blog post announcing the additional features, the company said emoji have become “part of a universal visual language.”

“And just as we share photos and videos, we use emoji to communicate emotions and feelings in ways that anyone can understand, regardless of language or background,” the post said.

Users can now search emoji on the app’s Explore page and tap on them in captions to see other posts that are associated with those same emoji.

The company also rolled out three new filters – Lark, Reyes, and Juno – and said that it plans to introduce additional filters more regularly going forward. In December, Instagram added five new filters.
