Kantar has analysed how protest votes, shopping, perceptions of the economy and eating habits have changed since the 2010 general election.

Data from the research group shows that support has crumbled for the Liberal Democrats with their 23 per cent of the 2010 vote, projected to sit at eight per cent in 2015.

The research group states that Ukip has replaced the Liberal Democrats as 'the party of protest' with its three per cent share of votes in 2010, predicted to rise to around 16 per cent later this year.

Online shopping, calorie consumption and the uptake of retail stores picked up in the half decade period.
