Twitter unveils Star Wars emojis ahead of The Force Awakens theatrical release
Twitter has partnered with Disney and Lucasfilm to bring a slew of emojis from a galaxy far, far away to the site.
The social network will, on behalf of Disney, periodically release emojis from the Star Wars universe in the run up to the release of the movie 18 December.
Rachel Dodes, head of movie partnerships at Twitter, said: “In anticipation of the theatrical release of “Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens,” we partnered with Disney and Lucasfilm to create custom Twitter emojis, giving Twitter users the ability to show their enthusiasm for the ever-evolving Star Wars universe.

“A variety of custom emojis will be released in honour of the upcoming film, including iconic legacy characters and a handful of new characters from #TheForceAwakens. The first three #StarWarsEmojis debuted today during the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California.”
Users can activate the emojis by tweeting the respective hashtags #C3PO ,#BB8 and #stormtrooper.
This comes after the firm earlier today (Thursday 16 April) unveiled a new website dashboard enabling web users without a profile access to a rich wellspring of its tweets in a move which may entice them to join.
