HBO has issued take-down notices to Twitter’s live-streaming app, Periscope after it allowed the streaming of pirated Game of Thrones episodes.

HBO had previously said it “had anti-piracy plans in place” to protect against such occurrences, but was unhappy that Twitter didn’t have the same.

“In general, we feel developers should have tools which proactively prevent mass copyright infringement from occurring on their apps and not be solely reliant upon notifications,” HBO wrote in a statement.

However, Twitter maintains that Periscope abides by copyright laws as its terms and conditions request that users respect all intellectual property rights.
