Unilever-owned Colman's has launched a £1m campaign to support its new Meal Kits product.

Campaign activity kicked off on Monday (13 April) with a TV ad that builds on recent Colman’s campaigns, by positioning the condiment at the centre of contemporary British life.

The spot follows a story of a busy working woman preparing dinner for her new boyfriend and his young daughter for the first time. The advert shows how with little time to cook, but keen to impress, the new Colman’s Meal Kit helps her make a dinner that ‘says it all’.

The TV ad runs untti 31 May.

Its arrival comes after Unilever chief executive Paul Polman said the FMCG business would continue to reduce its advertising spend after a lower than expected sales drop in 2014 of 2.7 per cent to €48.4bn.

Colman's last year spent £4.8m to mark its 200th anniversary.
