Twitter is trialling a new feature which links brands with their respective apps in a move which could aid app discovery.

The social media site is pushing to become more involved in the app market and could drive traffic with pinned app redirects, according to The Next Web.

Practically, for some iOS users, this means that the Twitter profiles of Vine, Uber and ultimately any brands keen to be involved, could feature a conveniently placed link to the App Store.

If widely implemented, Twitter could diversify its offering and champion digital downloads, enabling brands and app developers to participate in a greater number of promotions and engagements on the platform.

Furthermore, Twitter could help establish dominance over live-streaming app Meerkat by promoting its Periscope app in much the same way.
