Twitter has this morning launched a series of ten General Election hashtags corresponding to the ten largest parties competing for your vote on 7 May.
As of now anyone tweeting any of #Conservative; #Labour; #LibDems; #UKIP; #Greens; #snp; #Plaid15; #DUP; #SDLP or #RespectParty will notice a party badge automatically populate their tweet, part of the micro blogging services desire to place itself at the heart of political debate.
Already the #GE2015 scheme has come under fire from some however, angry at the omission of some smaller parties, including the Ulster Unionists, Sinn Fein and the obligatory Official Monster Raving Loony Party.
@TwitterUK You've listed some Northern Ireland parties, but not all? What about Alliance, Ulster Unionists, Sinn Fein?
— Simon Dickson (@simond) April 10, 2015Other, more disenfranchised voters, wished that an option for #noneoftheabove be included.
.@TwitterUK I notice you're also not providing a hashflag for #noneoftheabove!
