Netflix has laughed in the face of Apple - and its soon-to-be-released smartwatch - with an ad to coincide with the Apple Watch being made available for preorder (Friday 10 April).

The YouTube video introduces the "Netflix Watch", a smartwatch which enables viewers to catch up with all their favoutire Netflix shows from their wrist.

Before getting too exited, its important to note the Netflix Watch does not exist. The ad also shows just how hazardous such a device could be for the well being of joggers and drivers alike who are easily distracted by the streaming firm’s content in the ad.

Furthermore, Netflix took a swipe at the design of the Apple Watch which it likens to strapping a smartphone (or tablet) to your wrist – also hinting that users will not be able to put it down

A Netflix statement reads: “Experience total freedom with the all new Netflix Watch. Now you can view your favourite Netflix Originals directly from your wrist.

“Not only do you get a clear picture, quality streaming and your favourite shows and movies but it also isn't THAT inconvenient. So for a relaxing time, make it a Netflix time.”

The Apple Watch officially goes on sale April 24.

The ad kicks off in similar fashion to Apple’s legitimate slot for its smartwatch which you can view below.
