Gary S. Laben has been named Wunderman’s global chief data officer and will be responsible for expanding the agency’s data assets, data management and analytics practices to provide creative marketing support to its clients.
In his new role, he will report to Mark Read, who was appointed CEO of Wunderman earlier this year. Laben will remain as CEO of KBM Group, Wunderman’s data, insights and marketing technology arm.
He will work alongside global chief creative officer Lincoln Bjorkman to ensure that data-driven insights and creative are aligned consistently.
Of the appointment, Read said: “Our strategy is to combine creativity and data to drive results for our clients. Today, with the growth of platforms like Facebook and Twitter and the explosion of data, the world is coming full circle and all marketing is becoming what Lester Wunderman termed ‘direct marketing,’ over 50 years ago.”
Before joining KBM Group fifteen years ago, Laben served as vice president of marketing and business development at Experian.
