Hip Hop veteran Snoop Dogg has jumped to the defence of suspended Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson, insisting the petrolhead is a large part of the show’s DNA and it would struggle without him.

The musician told the Sun: “The BBC got to be crazy to even think about firing Jeremy Clarkson. He isn’t part of Top Gear - he is Top Gear.”

The star also called for a boycott of the BBC, perhaps unaware that a petition calling for Clarkson’s reinstatement reached one million signatures on Friday in a move which saw a man dressed as the Stig protest outside the BBC headquarters on the back on a tank.

He added: “If they even think about firing him, Britain needs to boycott the BBC until he is reinstated.

“It don’t matter what country I am in, I know if I stick the TV on in a hotel room then I am gonna get CNN and I am gonna get Top Gear. The reason it is syndicated all over the world is because of Jeremy and the BBC have gotta get that.”

This comes after the publication canned four Top Gear Live events in Norway this week amid the uncertainty of Clarkson’s future at the corporation.

Clarkson’s days at the corporation may be number however with him last week saying at a charity event that the “BBC have fucked themselves, it was a great show and they fucked it up”.
