Kate Upton: Marketing is ruining “the art” of social media
Kate Upton, who found much of her fame after videos of her dancing went viral, has decided to step away from social media.
The 22-year-old Sports Illustrated model told The Edit, that while she once enjoyed connecting with her fans via social, the influx of marketing has made it less enjoyable.
“I feel like social media at this point is kind of bullshit," she said. “I think that we’re losing the art of it. When I first joined Twitter it was just me, but [then] you’ve got contracts, it’s so planned. Now it’s about who has the best marketing, not who has a really good personality.”
Early first tweets by Upton were written in a human fashion.

As her feed progressed however, it became cluttered with seemingly-promoted content from Marie Claire, Express, and others.
