Ted Baker e-commerce sales surge 60% to £37m

Ted Baker has reported a 58.2 per cent increase in e-commerce sales as the British fashion brand continues to makes strides in international markets.

The retailer said that for the 53 weeks to 31 January e-commerce sales rose to £36.7m, with its US e-commerce business seeing sales increase by115.7 per cent following the migration of the US website onto a new platform in July 2014.

Overall revenue was up 20.4 per cent to £387.6m, while retail sales jumped 18.4 per cent to £306.9m.

Ted Baker will further develop its e-commerce site to enhance customer experience and advance the local content the retailer currently provides to European customers, including language options specific to key countries.

A host of new store opening are also planned for 2015. In the UK Ted Baker will open in Stansted and Spitalfields, London, while in Europe the brand will open a new store in Amsterdam and its first ever outlet in Spain in Barcelona.

Ray Kelvin CBE, founder and chief executive, said 2014 had been another "excellent" year for Ted Baker.

"We continue to invest in the brand as we develop in new markets where we see long term growth. All the while, we remain totally focused on the quality, design and attention to detail which underpins every area of the group.

"Our customers' reaction to our Spring/Summer collections across markets has been very encouraging and we are excited by our new store openings in the coming months."

Ted Baker has 398 stores and concessions worldwide, comprising of 183 in the UK, 83 in Europe, 75 in the US and Canada, 50 in the Middle East and Asia and 7 in Australias.

Speaking to The Drum earlier this month, Kelvin talked about the brand's unconventional approach to marketing and advertising and said that it is "sexier to conceal than to reveal".
