Ben & Jerry’s has upped its game to encourage ice cream fans to ‘Save our Swirled’ by switching to clean in a campaign which will see it give away free ice cream from an emissions-free Tesla electric car.

The ice cream brand will tour the US West Coast with the car, sharing free ice cream and a message of environmental awareness. Additionally the company has joined Avaaz, an international petition group, which among other things, lobbies governments to take action against climate change.

Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Jerry Greenfield, said: “When you join Avaaz, you become an agent of change, this issue is so important people need to be willing to get into the streets.

“Of course the company knows that taking action is a lot easier to swallow with a scoop of one of its euphoric flavours. Not only will the emissions from the electric vehicle be free, but so will the ice cream.”

Chris Miller, Ben & Jerry’s social mission activism manager, added: “We've invested early and often in efficiencies throughout our manufacturing facilities, supply chain, and Scoop Shops to increase energy efficiency and shrink our carbon footprint.”

The ‘Save Our Swirled’ tour will commence in San Diego on the first week of April.

This comes after the Ben & Jerry's founders announced they would be open to launching a cannbis-infused ice cream.
