Kieran Bass, the former senior SEO manager at online retailer Asos, has joined Roast as strategy director.

The online performance agency was established last month by Oliver Bishop, founder and former CEO of Steak Group.

Bass has been brought in to develop and integrate a strategy-led approach to data, insights, content and SEO.

“Having worked with Kieran during my time at Steak, I already knew how he works,” said Bishop, referring to Bass’ tenure as head of SEO at the agency.

“I have complete trust that he can deliver the level of service and return on ad spend that we provide our clients with.”

During his time at Asos, Bass led its international SEO efforts and devised integrated content strategies with the internal editorial and content teams. Prior to this he spent a year at 360i working on accounts such as Compare The Market, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Post Office.

The hire follows the appointment of Gareth Owen as managing director, who was the former strategy partner at iProspect.
