Advertising and marketing communications group Omnicom has launched a day-long training programme designed to support rising female stars across its family of companies.

Omniwomen UK coincides with International Women’s Day and will include invited speakers such as MP Jo Swinson, minister for women and equalities, as well as male and female Omnicom executives discussing their perspectives on leadership.

Cilla Snowball CBE, chief executive of AMV BBDO, commented: “We’ve designed this training day to be the Omniwomen debut in the UK, based on what women across Omnicom told us about the issues that affect them on a daily basis, including gender codes, confidence in leadership, motherhood and finding real role models and mentors.”

Janet Riccio, Omnicom’s executive vice president, added: “This is not solely a women’s issue, but rather a strategic business imperative. Companies that have diverse, inclusive management teams and boards financially outperform those who don’t. The best investment we can make is in our own human capital.”

Initiatives include ‘He for She’ in which four male speakers stress the importance of diversity whilst other events will dispel myths such as ‘The Slow Lane after Kids’.
