Instagram has changed how ads are presented on the platform now making the links clickable.

The firm today (Wednesday 4 March) introduced 'Carousel' ads which enables brands to generate additional information with a left swipe, increasing the interactive nature of their posts.

An Instagram statement said: “We’ve received feedback from the Instagram community that they are interested in learning more about a brand or product after they have been inspired by a sponsored photo or video.

“So, today we’re introducing a new format we’re calling carousel ads - a new way for brands to share more images with people interested in their posts.”

The social network said the new ad format gives brands the chance to bring multi-page print campaigns to mobile phones with the additional benefit of a clickable website link.

The feature has been launched on a limited basis with more set to emerge in the coming future.

This comes after eMarketer earlier today predicted that the photo-sharing website could have over 100m US users by 2018.
