Big Spaceship, a Brooklyn-based creative agency, has hired Cedric Devitt, formerly of MRY, as its new chief creative officer (CCO).

Though his former projects have included Coca-Cola Olympics, Adobe, and Sony Xperia, Devitt said he is excited to join the 15-year-old agency whose current roster includes Samsung Mobile, Google Play, and Organic Valley.

“Michael (Lebowitz, agency chief) and Big Spaceship have always represented the idea of what a great, nimble digital agency should be,” He said. “I’ve watched and admired their work for years, and truly believe that their culture is the perfect complement to what is possible for brands in a digital and social world.”

Lebowitz agreed adding that the agency’s increased responsibility make this the perfect time for Devitt to join the team.

“Our clients are asking us to take on a more central role in their overall efforts,” he said. “Cedric’s experience across traditional, digital and social is critical to meeting the expanded challenges and leadership role being asked of us, while maintaining our philosophy and culture.”

Devitt will begin his new role on 9 March and will report directly to Lebowitz
