London-based private cab firm Addison Lee has set its sights on Uber’s share of the US travel market with a New York launch.

The firm has expanded its fleet of 4,000 vehicles internationally, with it now targeting corporate clients who will be able to book either by phone or through the app, offering a wider range of ordering options than Uber.

This comes after the firm in October announced that it is looking to “lock horns” with rival Uber with a US expansion, which it has now evidentally followed through with.

Liam Griffin, chief executive officer of Addison Lee, said: “After London, New York is the world’s next biggest taxi market - worth £2.2bn - so it seemed like a natural step for us as Europe's largest minicab firm.

“We already have a great number of existing corporate clients in New York, so demand is already there and it’s an opportunity with real scale.”

Grffin added: "The extension of the Addison Lee business across the Atlantic is a fundamental part of a wider global roll out that aims to create a truly integrated global network of ground transport providers."

Addison Lee will offer the same fixed price standard it does in the UK and passengers will be able to chose from multiple services including standard, executive and hybrid vehicles.
