YouTube's top 100 channels saw yearly view increase of 110% in January as DisneyCollectorBR overtook PewDiePie

YouTube's top 100 channels saw a 110 per cent year-on-year view increase in January 2015, according to a report from Tubefilter.

Data from analytics firm OpenSlate listed February’s top 100 most viewed channels with DisneyCollectorBR taking the top spot makring a one quarter increase in viewers upon December figures, reaching an impressive 517.3 million views.

In second was gaming channel, PewDiePie, which received a seven per cent bump in views to 417.9 million. Pewds, 2014’s best performing YouTube content creator was quickly dethroned from his positon in 2015.

Following the Swede was Taylor Swift who boasted 361.3m views. BuzzFeed Video came tenth with 239.4 million views proving the successful nature of its journey into multimedia content.

YouTube’s top 100 most viewed channels garnered an aggregate total of 14,727,009,650 views. The figure is a 110 per cent increase upon the 2014 top 100.

Online music video group VEVO claimed ownership of 21 of the total channels, with its best performer being Taylor Swift. Maker Studios, which was acquired by Disney for under $1bn last year, had 15 channels on the list with its top performer being PewDiePie.

Fifty five of the top channels were US based, with a following 10 coming from the UK. Russia boasted eight channels followed by Spain with a further five.
