The New York Post calls out Obama’s reluctance to link Isis to Islam in brutal blindfold cover

The New York Post has published a front page splash featuring US President Barack Obama wearing a blindfold in criticism of his foreign policy in the Middle East.

In particular, the highly critical article, published today (Thursday 19 February), slated Obama for his unwillingness to brand Isis as ‘Muslim Terrorists’ during a White House’s summit tackling extremism on Wednesday.

Obama declared: “[Isis] are not religious leaders; they are terrorists, we are not at war with Islam. We are at war with people who have perverted Islam.”

In response, the article read: “They’re burning and beheading victims in the name of Islam, but President Obama delivered a major speech Wednesday on combating violent extremism - while refusing to use the words ‘Muslim terrorists’.”

This comes as the latest in a line of Isis related troubles for the US head, just last January, hackers purporting to represent Isis took control of US Central Command's Twitter and YouTube accounts.
