The popular weekly satire news series “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” has reportedly been renewed for 35-episode third and fourth seasons.

The news follows Jon Stewart’s announcement last week that he will be leaving “The Daily Show,” as some speculated that Oliver could be a potential replacement as host.

Oliver worked on "The Daily Show" for nearly eight years and briefly guest-hosted in 2013 while Stewart directed his movie "Rosewater."

President of HBO programming Michael Lombardo said in a statement: "We are incredibly proud to have John as part of the HBO family. His unique ability to deliver socially significant commentary week after week, along with his innate comedic brilliance, puts John in a class by himself."

The show is currently a few weeks into its second season. Season three will air on HBO in 2016 and will be followed by season four in 2017.
