Adidas has unleashed its greatest sporting stars including Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale as part of a global roll-out of films called ‘Sport 15’.

As the year goes on, Adidas will release the stories of global sports superstars in the world in a bid to inspire young athletes to be the best.

The campaign will be activated primarily through broadcast channels although Adidas will weave additional layers to its icons’ stories via social media from news rooms located in Herzogenaurach, London, Portland, Shanghai, Moscow and Rio de Janeiro.

Eric Liedtke, an Adidas board member responsible for global brands, said: “Sport 15 is more than a campaign. Sport 15 is a long-term investment into our brand.

"Adidas has a longer legacy in every sport than any of our competitors. Therefore, we know sport and athletes better than anyone else.”

Starring in this first wave of Sport 15 ads are Adidas footballers Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez of Real Madrid, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez from FC Barcelona.

Adidas NBA stars Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose from the Chicago Bulls and John Wall of the Washington Wizards join American football player DeMarco Murray of the Dallas Cowboys.

The campaign kicked off today (Friday 13 February) with 60 and 30 second commercials called ’Take it’ and ’Takers’, created by 180 Los Angeles.
