Mars has promoted Michele Oliver to lead the UK's marketing, replacing Michael Magee who has been promoted to lead the confectioner’s marketing in Europe.

Oliver (pictured), who was UK strategy director, replaces Magee as vice president of marketing after he was tasked with heading up Mars’ marketing in Europe and Eurasia.

Her last two years at the company have been spent leading the UK business strategy as part of the UK management team.

Lucy Cotterell will succeed Oliver in as strategy director having most recently served as Mars, Snickers and Twix marketing director.

An announcement on her replacement will be made in the coming weeks.

“Lucy and Michele bring a wealth of experience and insight, I’m confident that we have the right team in place to continue to deliver for our customers and consumers”, Mars Chocolate UK president, Blas Maquivar.

The appointments are effective 23 February.

It comes amid a raft of changes to the management team over the past six months.

Last September, Maquivar replaced Fiona Dawson as UK president following her promotion to the newly created role of global president, Mars food.

Meanwhile, Bruce McColl, chief marketing officer, similarly promoted to be given a global remit.
