Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea tops deadline day transfer chat on Twitter
Now the dust has settled on the January transfer window, Twitter has announced that Juan Cuadrado’s move from Fiorentina to Chelsea was the most talked about deadline day purchase on the social network in the UK.
Chelsea FC remained the focus of attention with Andre Schürrle’s last minute £22m move to Wolfsberg coming second. Aaron Lennon’s loan move from Tottenham FC to Everton came third.
London-based Chelsea’s announcement that it had secured the services of Juan Cuadrado was the deadline day’s most retweeted post seeing over 26,000 retweets.

The five players who saw the greatest spike in follower numbers on Twitter following their January moves were: Victor Valdes with a spike of 145,000 followers, Juan Cuadrado (100,000 followers), Lukas Podolski (95,000 followers), Lucas Silva (55,000 followers) and Xherdan Shaqiri with 52,000 followers.
