Cancer Research is set to accept contactless card donations via four of its shop windows in the UK from the 30 January.

Shoppers will be able to tap their contactless debit or credit card on the window to donate £2 to the charity, after which an interactive screen will show the donator the positive impact their donation will have.

Devised in collaboration with Clear Channel and Mediacom, the contactless giving technology will be available in Kensington, Guildford, Marylebone and Brighton until 13 February.

Paul Clarke director of innovation at Cancer Research UK said: “We are excited to be premiering this world-first use of contactless giving technology in four of our shop windows. Cancer Research UK does not receive any government funding for our vital research so rely on the generosity of the public."

Clear Channel's head of create Neil Chapman added that window displays represent an "important step forward" in offering brands a contactless payment solution away from their point of sale.
