Buzzfeed’s in-house video studio has teamed up with pet food firm Friskies to deliver its first TV commercial which will coincidentally also be its first Super Bowl takeover, reports AdWeek.

The partnership between the digital publisher and Friskies sees the continuation of Buzzfeed’s ‘Dear Kitten” series which after four episodes has pulled in over 30 million views.

The ad “Dear Kitten: Regarding The Big Game” sees cats discuss the behaviour of humans during the Super Bowl. A 60 second cut will be broadcast during the 'Big Game' on 1 February only in Pawnee City, Kitty Hawk and Los Gatos – cities with cat-themed names.

Jonathan Perelman, vice president of Motion Pictures at Buzzfeed, told AdWeek: “We were thinking about doing the next instalment in this franchise around tent poles, so we thought about doing 'Dear Kitten' during the Big Game. What I love about the Big Game is that it's a place that people watch for the ads as much as they watch for the game itself.”

Viewers are also being offered free coupons for Friskies cat food on the BuzzFeed YouTube channel.
