Kantar Media has appointed former BBC director of marketing and audiences Margo Swadley to the newly created role of director of its TV and video measurement unit.

She is tasked with managing Kantar's contracts to provide panel and census tracking services to industry measurement body Barb, where she has served as a board member for the past three years.

Swadley will work closely with Barb and its key stakeholder groups to lead Kantar Media's implementation of Barb’s strategy, including the introduction of the TV player report and measurement of viewing on tablets.

Richard Asquith, global chief exectutive of Kantar Media Audiences, said the creation of the role highlights ts commitment to partner with Barb as it navigates a period of unprecedented change.

“Margo is widely respected in the business and her experience in both broadcaster and research supplier roles is a perfect fit for this role,” he added.

Swadley, who will join Kantar Media in March 2015, has served at the BBC for the past seven years in a variety of roles including head of audience research, head of audiences, and most recently, director of the marketing and audiences Charter.
