Dixons Carphone has awarded its £90m media account to Walker Media following a competitive pitch against MSix and Mediacom.

Dixons Retail was Walker Media's founding client, while MSix picked up the Carphone Warehouse media account when it was founded in a joint venture by GroupM and CHI&Partners in 2008.

The review kicked off after Dixons Retail merged with Carphone Warehouse last August to create Dixons Carphone.

Beginning in February, Walker Media will work across Dixons Carphone’s key UK retail and service brands, including Currys PC World, Carphone Warehouse, Knowhow, Geek Squad and Dixons Travel.

Gary Booker, chief marketing officer, Currys PC World, said the agency shared its "ambitious, value-led plans for the future of the business".

"We feel they are perfectly positioned to help drive our integrated business forward, reflecting our keen focus on helping customers by connecting them with the right, innovative technology," he said.

ZenithOptimedia, owned by the Publicis Groupe, will also manage the account having acquired a majority stake in Walker Media in 2013.

The win does not affect Brother and Sisters. The Drum revealed last Novemebr that the agency had been appointed to Carphone Warehouse's £10m creative account.
