Cadbury has upset fans of its Easter favourite Creme Eggs by cutting the number sold in boxes from six to five, with no reduction in price.

A number of angry consumers have taken to social media to explain their annoyance at the cut back, with many copying in Cadbury directly using its @CadburyUK handle in messages.

As fans voiced their concerns online trade magazine The Grocer commented: "Chocolate fans say it's no yolk that six packs of Cadbury Creme Eggs have been reduced to five packs."

According to reports Cadbury parent company Mondelez claimed the move comes follows 'consumer research' which also sees the Creme Egg three-pack phased out.

Cadbury has begun replying to customers asking about the change putting the decision down to "rising commodity costs".

The cut back follows Cadbury's decision to stop making chocolate coins at Christmas.
