Cadbury blames Creme Egg cut backs on 'rising commodity costs' as angry fans complain on social media
Cadbury has upset fans of its Easter favourite Creme Eggs by cutting the number sold in boxes from six to five, with no reduction in price.
A number of angry consumers have taken to social media to explain their annoyance at the cut back, with many copying in Cadbury directly using its @CadburyUK handle in messages.
Creme Eggs are now 5 in a box instead of 6 AND for the same price, not cool @CadburyUK ✋

What's going on @CadburyUK why have you reduce the 6 box of creme eggs to a 5 box? — Adam Taylor-Smith (@Aderz88) January 11, 2015
A dozen = 12. A baker's dozen = 13. A half dozen = 6. New for 2015, Cadbury's Creme Eggs half dozen = 5.

Dear Kraft, You have been misinformed. Creme eggs come in packs of 6 not 5. What use is 5 Creme eggs to anyone?! pic.twitter.com/6KLronf5YE — Nikki Wieczerzynski (@nikkilongname) January 10, 2015
Cannot be serious @CadburyUK, 5 creme eggs instead of 6? What is going on? #tightgits pic.twitter.com/xdeqEVQcnL

As fans voiced their concerns online trade magazine The Grocer commented: "Chocolate fans say it's no yolk that six packs of Cadbury Creme Eggs have been reduced to five packs."
According to reports Cadbury parent company Mondelez claimed the move comes follows 'consumer research' which also sees the Creme Egg three-pack phased out.
Cadbury has begun replying to customers asking about the change putting the decision down to "rising commodity costs".
@adelleywelley We've had to make this change because of rising commodity costs to ensure our Creme Eggs are as awesome as ever! — Cadbury UK (@CadburyUK) January 11, 2015
The cut back follows Cadbury's decision to stop making chocolate coins at Christmas.
First it was Cadburys chocolate coins to go, and now they're reducing the box of 6 creme eggs to 5. [same price].
