Thomson has renewed its weather sponsorship of STV for two years following a successful 12 months for the partnership.

The travel agent’s idents portraying gloomy Scotland replaced with the Thomson Dreamliner flying above azure oceans will continue to grace Scottish TVs during STV’s weather reports featuring Sean Batty.

Furthermore, additional deals have been signed with ITV Tyne Tees and Yorkshire TV weather, both of which include 31 transmissions a week, each with a 15 second opener and a five second closer. This will be supplemented by sponsorship of digital website, including a branded takeover.

Jeremy Ellis, digital and marketing director for Thomson and First Choice, said: “Weather is such an integral part of our holidays and we know that the majority of our customers check the forecast regularly before jetting off.

“The sponsorship of the weather is a natural brand fit for Thomson and First Choice and we are delighted to be extending the campaign to other regions in the UK next year.”

This builds upon sister firm First Choice’s sponsorship of Channel 5 weather.
