Santander has launched its secret Santa campaign which saw Formula One talent Jenson Button distribute gifts to customers from his hiding place inside a rigged ATM.

The film, created by WCRS, saw the racer hide inside a fake machine to gift customers with cash prizes of £100, as he paired with the bank for a second year to spread Christmas joy.

Upon its activation, The ATM urged customers to press the on-screen ‘Jenson Button’ to receive the gift. The content added to the wider Santander secret Santa campaign which ran with the hashtag #SecretSantander.

Billy Faithfull, executive creative director of WCRS, said: “The two best things about Jenson Button himself, aside from being a unique talent and a national icon, is that he's genuinely a decent bloke who likes to have a laugh, so he jumped, or rather crouched at the chance to get involved with a light hearted bit of fun with Santander's customers.

“The second is his name, what an absolute gift. It wasn't easy though, a military-style operation, a master mind sting that pulled off some well-deserved ‘Thank Yous’ to unsuspecting customers adding a comedic edge to Santander's Secret Santa campaign."

The video was shot one Wednesday at the bank’s Windsor branch.
