Sky News is to fire the starting gun on its coverage of next May’s General Election with the launch of a new series of programmes investigating 150 marginal constituencies.

In the Margins launches on 5 January with a day of live on location coverage with political editor Faisal Islam and deputy political editor Joey Jones reporting on the key challenges faced by the Labour and the Conservatives in the face of the SNP and UKIP.

These broadcasts will be backed up by a digital push centred on an interactive console which will allow viewers to explore profiles of each constituency alongside expert analysis.

John Ryley, Head of Sky News, commented: “In the Margins will offer our customers the ultimate way to get under the skin of how this country is feeling about politics in the run up to May’s General Election. The rise of the smaller parties has sent a clear message to the government and opposition that the electorate are frustrated with what the traditional parties have to offer, making the outcome of the 2015 election one of the most exciting in recent history.”
