Syco Entertainment overhauls One Direction's website to introduce content-led layout
Syco Entertainment has worked with design agency Studio Output to update One Direction’s website to coincide with the launch of the band’s fourth album, Four.
Studio Output was charged with creating a new look site for the ban with a bold, content-led layout that conveyed the band’s energy and personality.
Dan Moore, creative director at Studio Output, said the project had been “exciting from a design perspective as we got to develop an editorially-influenced look, led by typography and imagery, that wasn’t tied to any of the existing album or single artwork.”
Moore added: “The last One Direction website we worked on had the most traffic of any Sony Music artist, which is quite some achievement, so we needed to create a big, bold brand website that’s designed with a smartphone user in mind.”
Different typefaces along with still and animated imagery have been used to create the responsive site with large panels of content displayed on each page.
Content made by the band has been laid out across the site to appeal to One Direction’s dedicated fanbase looking for the latest updates and posts. Simple, clear navigation and functionality has also been incorporated for the likes of parents who may be visiting the site to buy concert tickets.
