Young Innovator Nominee: Emily Zhong, The Media Kitchen

Why she is nominated: Within a month at The Media Kitchen, I taught myself how to plan and buy on Facebook. Now, about a year into the account, I've tripled paid social activity while increasing the brand’s overall reach. I helped bring in an Agency Partner from Facebook to accommodate the increased need for social knowledge from multiple agency’s clients. I was also nominated to attend Facebook’s new Blueprint Live in NYC to further build and accelerate her proficiency with Facebook’s products.

Beyond social, I often challenge my brands to test new media channels rather than "staying safe" so they can grow their business rather than staying stagnant. For example, the client tends to look at opportunities at a very efficient eCPM. When a publisher presented a customized live event that could potentially expand into digital, I dedicated myself to push the opportunity within a very short timeframe. The campaign shown great initial success on social and the client members felt that it brought value to the table.

Even though my account requires a higher maintenance than most accounts in the agency, my motivation to drive more innovative learnings led me to participate with the agency's internal Digital Engineering Committee. The committee enabled me with permission to pursue new technological ideas and bring back to the agency in the form of internal newsletters that are shared with every "chefs" in The Media Kitchen, including the CEO.

My pursuit ultimately led me to find this opportunity to submit myself as a Young Innovator. By submitting myself to opportunities like these, I hope to earn my reputation for a tenacious learner and innovator in my industry and that it would lead to a successful career that is more a hobby than a job.
