Asos has been named the most popular retailer on Pinterest for the second year running, according to research by Searchmetrics.

In a study of ten top UK retail sites, images and pages from asos.com are being shared most frequently on Pinterest, with Amazon UK and John Lewis taking second and third positions respectively.

Also in the top 10 are Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Next, Debenhams, Argos, Asda and B&Q.

During the study, completed the week ending 21 November, Searchmetrics found that 656,851 links to content on asos.com were found to have been pinned. John Lewis, in second place, had 198,697 pins.

Asos content generated 7,202 shares a week: nearly five times more than Amazon UK (1,620 pins) and almost seven times more than John Lewis (1,096 pins).

"Pinterest plays an important role in introducing consumers to retail products they may not be aware of and also drives traffic back to online retailers’ product pages because each pin incorporates a link to the original web page where the content can be found,” explained Marcus Tober, founder and chief technology officer of Searchmetrics.

Amazon is the only site out of the top 10 not to have its own Pinterest page.
