Former News of the World editor Andy Coulson has emerged from behind bars after serving five months of an 18 month jail sentence for his part in a phone hacking conspiracy.

The former communications director for prime minister David Cameron walked free from his spell doing porridge since being locked up in July.

Making a beeline straight for a waiting car Coulson sped off from Suffolk’s Hollesley Bay Prison without comment to waiting press and photographers.

Hollesley holds male category D prisoners from 18 years upwards without limit of sentence.

Coulson wasn’t entirely alone during his stretch, receiving visits from friends including Piers Morgan who visited the inmate
