Airbnb, the spare room rental service, is diversifying its digital brand into the print media business with the launch of Pineapple magazine.

The quarterly title, named after the tropical fruit that symbolised hospitality in colonial New England, will serve as a real world hub for home owners seeking to rent rooms or apartments to travellers.

Weighing in at 128 pages the advertising free launch edition carries features on three key cities; the San Francisco, London and Seoul, looking at the architecture and cuisine of each city.

18,000 copies of the title will be distributed free to hosts globally with readers also able to buy the magazine directly for £9.

The magazine comes in the wake of a rebranding exercise which saw Airbnb represented by the Bélo symbol, representing ‘belonging’.
