Sky Movies calls on film fans to 'Step into the adventure' this Christmas

Sky is inviting families to ‘Step into the adventure’ this Christmas with Sky Movies taking an unsuspecting family on a magical movie tour to promote the films premiering on the platform this December.

Launching during tomorrow (Saturday 8 November) night’s X Factor on ITV, the advert’s stars are transformed into a variety of animated versions of themselves taking viewers on a journey though the famous movie worlds that join Sky Movies over the festive period.

From taking a sleigh-ride through the icy Arendelle landscape from Frozen, to popping up centre stage in the Muppets theatre the family – and their dog Chester – come face-to-face with much loved characters from the Muppets Most Wanted, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Lego Movie and Frozen.

Created by WCRS and cinematographer Ivan Bird the 60-second spot features bespoke hand-drawn and CGI animations as well as scenes and characters specially created for Sky Movies in collaboration with Animal Logic, Disney, Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros. More than 130 artists, animators, crew, performers and producers worked at bringing the family to life in studios worldwide, clocking-up over 5,500 man-hours.

“Enjoying movies with the family is a big part of Christmas so we decided to bring some of them to life this year. We are very proud that Disney, Warner Bros and Sony have allowed us to work with their creative talent to create special scenes with these iconic characters for our new Christmas ad campaign,” said Ian Lewis, director, Sky Movies.

“It reflects the strength of the partnership we have built with them, working together over many years. Sky Movies is the only movies subscription service where you will be able to enjoy these incredible family adventures whenever and wherever you want this Christmas.”

Leon Jaume, executive creative director at WCRS, added: “Contrary to popular wisdom, if you want a good Christmas ad, try working with not only children and animals, but also animated snowmen, electrified baddies, Lego superheroes and flying Muppets.”

In addition Sky Movies is offering families and movie fans the chance to create their own adventure on SkyMovies.com from early December by designing their own personalised Christmas image that they can share online and with loved ones. Familiar characters from the Sky Movies premieres – Muppets Most Wanted, The Lego Movie, Frozen and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – will also be appearing on outdoor, press, digital and mobile advertising.
