Jaywing poaches British Gas head of user experience Alex Race
Jaywing has appointed Alex Race as head of user experience, where he will manage the delivery of user research, early stage concepting and requirements gathering.
Joining from British Gas, where he held the role of head of UX and design, Race headed a 25-strong team.
He said: “I can see the huge opportunities right now to create high quality UX for the agency’s clients and Jaywing’s nature as a place to build relevant inspiring UX and drive it to the right audience was a key factor in my decision. With such strong capabilities, Jaywing presents a unique opportunity to develop my skills further and deliver an offering that adds massive benefit to clients.”
Race takes up the position with immediate effect, reporting to creative director Matt Powell and digital managing director Brían Taylor.
Taylor said: “With UX a key part of the agency’s make up for some years, getting the right person to lead this area was crucial. Alex is a key hire for us and we’re delighted he made the move from British Gas to Jaywing. He brings impressive UX experience from a brand setting, where the users range from electricity, gas and homecare customers who have numerous sales and customer servicing needs, to Hive users who control their heating from their mobile devices. As this complex product range and variety of customers requires both a breadth and depth of UX knowledge, Alex will bring new insights to our team.”
Race will work with Jaywing clients such as PepsiCo, Merlin Entertainments, Sky and The Open University.
