Santa Claus has joined online professional network LinkedIn ahead of the busy Christmas season.

As part of the NSPCC's 'Letter from Santa' , in which people worldwide can request a personalised letter from Saint Nick for a suggested donation of £5, Santa Claus has signed up to LinkedIn in search of copywriting support.

Of this year's fundraising efforts, NSPCC director of fundraising, Paul Farthing, said the charity wanted “a fun way” to launch 'Letter from Santa' that would “really capture people’s interest at a time when Christmas is not yet at the forefront of their minds.”

LinkedIn spokesman, Darain Faraz, added: “We’re excited to welcome the world’s favourite Christmas character to LinkedIn – it’s a fun, creative campaign in support of a fantastic cause which we hope proves successful for both the NSPCC and Santa.

“We’re hopeful our 16 million UK members can help to ease Santa’s workload.”

Launched this week, Farthing said a “bumper year” was expected for the charity drive which raised £7.7m last year.

The illustrated personalised letters, delivered by ‘Rudolph mail’, are available to request until 15 December.
